Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the nose or correct functional problems, such as difficulty breathing. An ideal nose is expected to look symmetrical, proportionate, harmonious with the rest of the face, and natural. Rhinoplasty can be performed using two techniques: open and closed. In open rhinoplasty, an incision is made in the middle pole of the nose, while in closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made through the nostrils. The healing process may be slightly longer for open rhinoplasty, and a mild scar may be visible, while closed rhinoplasty may result in a faster healing process and no visible scars. The surgery can take 2-3 hours and is usually performed under general anesthesia. Before the surgery, the patient should inform the surgeon and anesthesiologist about their existing health problems and medications. After the surgery, the patient should take care to support their head, eat and sleep regularly, avoid strenuous activities, avoid wearing glasses, and protect their nose from direct sunlight. Smoking and alcohol consumption should be avoided, and blowing the nose should be avoided for the first few weeks. It’s important to carefully select a qualified cosmetic surgeon for the procedure.
